Mission Statement:  Hill Country CASA is a nonprofit organization which provides trained, court appointed volunteers to serve children who are victims of abuse or neglect in Kerr, Kendall, Bandera and Gillespie counties. Our volunteers work with the courts to advocate for the overall well being of these children.

Bridging the Gap

Mission Statement:  Bridging the Gap is a community service of Peterson Regional Medical Center designed to help children, between grades K-12, who are grieving the death of a loved one. Volunteer facilitators receive 5 nights of training on children's grief and then work from October through March every other Tuesday night from 5:30 until 9:30 pm. There are three groups: parent, teen (7th - 12th) and children (k-6th). No previous experience required, just a desire to help grieving children. At the end of the sessions we hold a weekend camp for the kids at Camp LaJunta, called Camp Rays of Hope.

Mission Statement: Our goal is to inspire at risk kindergarten students to love books and reading. O.T.T.E.R. volunteers demonstrate the joy of reading by reading fun books one on one to a child for 20 minutes twice a week. O.T.T.E.R. was awarded the 2006 Governor's Volunteerism Award because it's a simple way to make a difference in the life of a child and it works!

Mission Statement:  We build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.  One time project:  Kerr County Summer Day Camp 2011, June 11th-15th, 9-5 p.m. Our science-themed day camp could utilize volunteers either part or full time.

Other Needs:  We need help building a data base that we will use for fundraising. This work is to be done on a volunteer's own computer with a Google Doc. We are also cleaning out and need to repair a large barn that will be used to foster horses until we can build our facility. Date(s) to be determined.
